Hut 2, 3, 4!

It's my first year here to get heat rash.  It's been pretty prickly!  No wonder it's also called prickly heat.  It feels like an army of small ants are biting you underneath your skin.  Seems as though this year has been a bit more humid and hot at the same time - we all have been "misting" or sweating :) and many Africans have the rash as well.  I look at the thermometers in the evening some times- on several occasions it has been in the 90's after 10 PM.

The good news is- my rash is almost gone now!

The Africans have been helpful with advice and I've searched for many online tips.  I tried lemon juice, apple cider vinegar, desitin, hydrogen peroxide, olive oil, cornstarch, baking soda, lanolin, various cremes, and the two things that worked the best were found here at the market.

One is called Soldier Powder and the other is called Paradise (Paradis- in French).  They both work very good!  What I have found best is to apply the Soldier Powder, and then I will feel like I am in Paradise :).

I have felt a bit whiter these past few weeks :)

The powder has menthol in it and it takes me from hot and humid togo to cold as alaska with in seconds after application.  Such wonderful powder- I may just start wearing it year round!

Someone asked me in market if I was going to turn into a soldier...  Hut 2, 3, 4 :)  This powdered soldier is off and running- 10/40 over and out!

  1. Bless your heart, Love!! I can't imagine how hot it must be there. Man, I thought it was hot when I was there and that wasn't even your summer season. I'd have died, I'm pretty sure. I'm so thankful you have found something that works. Love you bunches, Mom

  3. I'm sure that prickly heat was miserable! So glad you're about over it. Even with all that powder, you look lov'-e'ly! Our g'daughter,Kim, is in S. Africa, but I don't think she will be getting prickly heat, although she may feel like she's in Alaska! We love you and pray for you every day. May God bless your labor with much fruit for Him.
